Bassey Eko Ewa was a member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, where he also became the Speaker.

In the year 2011, Bassey was elected into the Federal House of Representatives where he represents the Yakurr/Abi Federal Constituency of Cross River State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was the chairman of committee on gas resources from the year 2011 to the year 2015. He was reelected in the year 2015.
