He formerly worked with the Cross River South Development Authority, where he served as a Secretary. Between the years 2003 and 2007, he was a member of the Federal House of Representatives. Between 1999 and 2002, Essien was the Chairman, Calabar South Local Government Area.
CAREER AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES: In the year 2015, Essien Ekpeyong Ayi was elected into the Federal House of Representatives, where he represents the Akpabuyo/Bakassi/Calabar South Federal Constituency of Cross River State of Nigeria under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
