Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor served as a member of the Delta State House of Assembly between the years 2007 and 2015.

In the year 2015, she was elected into the Federal House of Representatives to represent the Aniocha North/Aniocha South/ Oshimili North/Oshimili South Federal Constituency of Delta State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
