The United Kingdom is bordered by Ireland; since 1994 the Channel Tunnel beneath the English Channel links the UK with France. Britain also shares maritime borders with Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, and the Faroe Islands (Denmark).
