Kate Henshaw was born on 19 July 1971 in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. She is the oldest of four children.

Henshaw completed her primary and secondary school in Lagos and Calabar. She studied for one year at the University of Calabar reading remedial studies, and then graduated from the School of Medical Lab Science, LUTH (Lagos University Teaching Hospital) in Lagos with a degree in Medical Microbiology.

Henshaw worked at the Bauchi State General hospital. In 1993, Kate Henshaw entered the world of acting when she auditioned for the lead role in the Nolywood movie “When the Sun Sets” and was handed the role. Henshaw has starred in over 40 Nollywood movies.

In 1999, Henshaw got married to British-born Roderick James Nuttall. In 2000, Henshaw gave birth to a baby girl, Gabrielle Nuttall. In 2011, the couple reportedly filed for a divorce.

In 2008, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the film “Stronger than Pain”. Being “The Face of Onga”, she also signed a deal worth several millions naira with Nigerian telecommunication giant, Globacom. Henshaw is also a judge on Nigeria’s Got Talent.
