1. Funke Akindele
Funke’s acting debut was in the soap opera “I Need To Know”. This series went on between the 1990’s to the mid-2000’s. In 2009, she was awarded for best performance by the Africa Film Foundation. Also, viewers got to enjoy her acting in another TV show, Jenifa’s Diary.
One of her most famous work is JENIFA. This movie was a big hit, not just in Nigeria, but Africa as well.
2. Fathia Balogun
She began her acting career in the 90’s. Alhaji Fatai Teniola offered her guidance in the industry.
It is interesting that Balogun never dreamed of becoming an actress. Initially, she wanted to be a broadcaster. Her father, however, wanted her to be an accountant. But things became difficult when the young Faithia failed her JAMB exams. Math was not her strong suit. After a while, her father resigned himself to fate and encouraged his daughter to follow her heart desires.
Also, Fathia said that she considered being a lawyer but she was not capable of performing the additional work which law students were required to do.
As we can see, she is quite successful now. This lady is one of the most notable Nigerian movie stars. Many people admire and envy her popularity and wealth. Among her successful films are Farayola (2009), Aje metta ( 2008), Aje metta 2 (2008), and Awawu (2015).
3. Mercy Aigbe
Mercy’s homeland is Edo State. She was born on the 1st of January 1979 as the second child in a family of five kids. She studied finance at the Polytechnic of Ibadan. After graduating, she was mastered in Theater Arts at the University of Lagos and graduated in 2001.
Among the most prominent films where she acted were Afefe ife, Okanjua, Atunida leyi, Igberaga, Ihamo, Ipese, Iro funfun, Mafisere, Oju ife, Ile Oko mii and Kostobu – a hit in 2017.
4. Iyabo Ojo
Her acting career began in 1997 when she met Bimbo Akintola. Her impeccable performance in the movie “Satanic” showed that she really has great talent. Iyabo got the leading role. Her inexperience was not at all noticeable. No one could have guessed that it was her first time in front of a camera. Even though she was nervous, she enjoyed the process of filming.
Iyabo has been on over 150 movies. In addition, she has produced 14 films and has received more than 10 awards.
5. Dayo Amusa
Her acting career started in 2002. Within a short period of time, she became one of the most popular personalities in Nollywood. Her main focus are yoruba films but she has also starred in a few English movies. Her most notable roles were in Unforgivable, Emuke, Aroba 1, 2, Diary.
